home-ill (1st draft)

i write this
because it's been awhile since i wrote a poem
and it's funny,
at how throwing me across the country
is showing me how much i miss poetry
-----------------------------------
stripped down to its purest form
(empty of political or pusssy agenda)
poetry purposefully locks you
into a love affair with language.
these words in everyday conversation
steady rock like rocksteady
produce something far beyond
nouns, verbs, and
hella hella adjectives

and it's tragic
how most of this daily poetry
goes unnoticed by it's producers
cause we all spit sick shit
"poets" just have the sense to write it down

hmm...interesting. definitely made me think. reread it a couple times as well.

question though...
was that, in response to my last blog? after rereading yours a couple times, it seemed like it.

regardless of whether or not it is or it isn't, poetry is poetry...
and i respect poets and their works...

ahaha...my bad dude. i didn't read yr piece until after i posted the poem. and after rereading it a few times, i can see how it could be interpreted as something directed toward yr piece. but it wasn't, and my bad if there was misunderstanding.

it was kind've a blurb i jotted down while studying. i was watching this video of dahlak and 5th ave and i was kinda like "damn, i haven't written in awhile". and i was just thinking about poetry, and how everything we write as poets, is constructed from the same words (tools) ppl use every day. so it's like we (poets/nonpoets) all have the tools to create this artform, but a lot of ppl don't recognize it.

so even though i hella miss poetry, i'm surrounded by its building blocks everyday.

btw. you got hot beats.

jon, this poem stuck in my head. 'in love with language' is like my mental headline if my mind had a myspace, youknow????! okay jk but i like the way you put it like that, that's how poets feel.. so true my dude.
